NP Radio / Installation & Setup

NP Radio

Installation & Setup

Install NP Radio in the correct server directory and verify required framework files are present before starting the server.

NP Radio works with the majority of FiveM frameworks, although we recommend NP Core for the best integration with Northpoint products.

Installation

  • Drop the NP-RADIO resource into your server's resources directory.
  • Make sure NP-RADIO is started before NP-CAD in your server.cfg — the radio depends on the CAD for account and API validation.
  • Add your community's CAD API key to the NP-RADIO config file.
  • Start the server and confirm the radio initializes without script errors.

API & integration access

Connecting NP Radio to your CAD's API key requires the Plus or Prime plan.

Configuration

Verify your channels, talkgroups, permissions, and emergency setup before going live.

  • Confirm the correct framework and resources are active.
  • Review channel and talkgroup configuration.
  • Verify permissions and emergency access settings.
  • Test the radio after each change.

Audio & Microphone Setup

Radio audio is not intentionally distorted. Audio is passed through the codec and returned to the client. Legacy Audio Mode is an older, deprecated codec and will eventually be removed.

Microphone Permission Denied

If someone accidentally presses Deny instead of Allow when FiveM requests microphone access:

Navigate to:

%AppData%\CitizenFX

Delete:

media_access.json

This resets the saved media permissions and allows the permission prompt to appear again.

PTT & Controls

The PTT animation can be modified, and the controls can be adjusted to match your preferred setup. Set up your radio controls so players can transmit clearly without competing with normal gameplay input. If the script is working normally, the controls should feel responsive and consistent.
